Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech to Ouarzazate
Morning Departure from Marrakech
We begin our 4-day desert tour early in the morning, leaving the bustling streets of Marrakech behind. Our first stop is the High Atlas Mountains, where you’ll marvel at the breathtaking views as we ascend the Tizi n’Tichka pass, the highest in North Africa.
Ait Benhaddou – UNESCO World Heritage Site
Our journey continues to the historic ksar of Ait Benhaddou, a striking example of southern Moroccan architecture. This UNESCO World Heritage site has served as the backdrop for many films, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Wander through the narrow streets, and explore the ancient kasbahs before we enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch.
Overnight in Ouarzazate
In the evening, we head to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara”. Here, we will visit the famous Taourirt Kasbah and spend the night in a comfortable hotel, preparing for the next leg of our journey.
Day 2: Ouarzazate to Merzouga
Journey through the Draa Valley
After breakfast, our adventure continues as we drive through the scenic Draa Valley, home to one of Morocco’s longest rivers. The valley is dotted with traditional Berber villages and lush palm groves, providing perfect photo opportunities.
Visit to the Todra Gorge
Next, we visit the Todra Gorge, a dramatic canyon with towering cliffs that rise over 300 meters. Here, you can take a leisurely walk along the river and enjoy the stunning natural scenery.
Arrival in Merzouga and Camel Trekking
In the late afternoon, we reach Merzouga, where the golden dunes of the Erg Chebbi desert await. You’ll experience a traditional camel trek into the heart of the dunes, arriving at a Berber camp just in time for sunset. Enjoy a night under the stars, complete with a traditional Moroccan dinner and Berber music around the campfire.
Day 3: Merzouga to Dades Valley

Wake up early to witness the mesmerizing sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After breakfast at the camp, we return to Merzouga by camel and continue our journey.
Exploring the Dades Valley
We travel along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, stopping to explore the Dades Valley. This area is renowned for its stunning rock formations and the dramatic Dades Gorge. Enjoy a leisurely hike through the gorge, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.
Skoura Oasis and Overnight in the Dades Valley
Our journey takes us to the lush Skoura Oasis, known for its vast palm groves and beautiful kasbahs. Here, we visit the well-preserved Amridil Kasbah before heading to our hotel in the Dades Valley for a relaxing evening and overnight stay.
Day 4: Dades Valley to Marrakech
Rose Valley and Kelaat M’Gouna
On our final day, we drive through the Rose Valley, famous for its rose cultivation and production of rosewater. We stop in Kelaat M’Gouna, the heart of the rose-growing region, to visit local cooperatives and learn about the production process.
Return to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains
As we make our way back to Marrakech, we once again traverse the High Atlas Mountains, offering a final chance to take in the stunning views. We’ll stop for a traditional lunch en route before arriving back in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
